Time to melt away the fat.

Vanquish is the newest non-invasive body contouring treatment.  It uses focused-field radiofrequency heat to painlessly destroy fat without ever touching the skin.  The treatment protocol consists of four sessions, once a week, although some patients desiring more dramatic results may prefer to undergo several more weekly sessions.  Vanquish is ideal for the individual with stubborn fat deposits that don’t resolve with diet and exercise.  It can safely treat the abdomen, love handles, flanks, back fat, saddlebags, and inner/outer thigh areas.  Please schedule a complimentary consultation with our office to determine if Vanquish is right for you.

How does Vanquish work?

Vanquish uses focused-field radiofrequency energy to generate deep tissue heating.  While the underlying fat is heated to 120 degrees, the skin surface only heats up to 101 degrees, which protects the overlying skin from any potential damage.  The deep thermal energy selectively heats stubborn fat cells just enough to cause cell breakdown.  Over the next several weeks, the body naturally eliminates these dead fat cells.

How is Vanquish different from Coolsculpting?

Fat cells can be permanently destroyed with heat (Vanquish) or cold (Coolsculpting).  While Coolsculpting does work, it can only treat a small area, the size of a stick of butter, at a time.  Vanquish delivers continuous energy evenly to a large area and is able to treat a much larger surface area in each session.  Coolsculpting can also have noticeable pain in the abdominal area during the healing process.

Is Vanquish painful?

The best thing about Vanquish is that it is completely painless!  No topical or general anesthesia, needles, or incisions are required.  Most patients report a warm sensation, as if standing in front of a heater or heating pad.

What side effects should I expect?

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel warm and may be pink and slightly swollen.  Uncommonly, the skin may feel tender or bruised in the treated area.  This should not limit your activities and will resolve spontaneously.  There have been no issues of nerve damage or damage to the skin or internal organs with Vanquish.  Please note that Vanquish CANNOT be performed over any area with metal implants (such as with hip replacement).

How should I prepare for each treatment?

Because hydration of the skin cells is important to achieve the best results with Vanquish, it is crucial to drink plenty of water the day before and the day of the treatment (8 glasses per day).  It is also a good idea to ensure good hydration for a few days after each treatment.   We also recommend that patients wear lightweight, stretchy clothes during the treatment.  Short-sleeved or sleeveless tops are preferred to keep patients comfortable with the heat of the procedure.  For abdominal and back treatments, we recommend loose tops and bottoms which allow easy access to the midriff without undressing.  For thigh treatments, we ideally recommend wearing a loose skirt with a bathing suit bottom underneath for the procedure.

Is there any downtime?

You can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment, and there are no restrictions before or after each session.

How soon will I see results?

Most patients see improvement within a few weeks after their last treatment, but many individuals begin to see results after the second session.  As with all medical procedures, results may vary among patients.  However, it is common to see a two-inch reduction in the waist after four, weekly treatments.
